2021-2022 Tesla Model S/X H-MTD Media Converter Rental

This is a Rental Agreement for the Gigabit 1000-T H-MTD Media Converter. The terms of the agreement are as follows:

• This is a 5-business day on-site rental. The clock starts when you receive the device. If your device isn't return posted on the 5th day, you run the risk of forfeiting your deposit at which point the tool is yours to keep. Please contact us to avoid this situation if you already have the device. The best way to meet this timeline is to have all upgrade parts on-hand prior to renting the Media Converter. We know and understand that things happen. Please communicate with us.
• There is a $250 deposit required to ship the device. Any device/cable damages will be subtracted from the deposit.
• The rental/restock fee of $75 is included in the $250 deposit. The remainder will be refunded when the device is returned and inspected.
• Use of the tool, setup, and configuration instructions will be included or emailed to you upon shipment. Any misuse/damage to the tool or your car is not EV-Street's responsibility. If you are not confident in your ability to properly setup and use the diagnostic tool, please find a trained automotive electronics professional to assist you. We don't provide on-call support for use.
• Expedited 2 Day outbound & return shipping is included in the shipping costs. A return label is provided in the box. Please keep the box, packing material, and cables. Repack it as received and seal it back up for return. Alternatively, you can get a free new Small USPS Priority Mail box if the original is damaged. Shipping fees of $20 are non-refundable.

*** Rental Service Notes***

Certain early Tesla Model S and X Refresh vehicles require a Media Converter to interface the vehicle with PC based diagnostic tools.

Vehicles production:

Model S - Fremont: 2021-02-08 - 2022-02-13

Model X - Fremont: 2021-10-16 - 2022-02-16
 

One easy way to check this is to see if you have the ability to run Steam on your car, or if you have the newer Matrix headlights or newer rear taillights. IF you have all three of these, you don't need this rental.

If you don't have these or all of these in your vehicle, then another way to check is to visually inspect the diagnostic interface port on your car. You can do this the following way:

1. Pull up on the center charging tray to loosen it from the vehicle. Set it off to the left side.

2. Using a trim removal tool, pop out the diagnostic panel under the screen.

Once the panel is hanging down look for the green/pink oval port on the left side. If the port is there then you'll need this tool to interface with the car.

If you don't see a green/pink oval port and instead see a black rectangle with an ethernet port, you don't need this tool.

***Note on Rentals***

This is experimental! At EV-Street, we're not interested in holding people's money for long periods of time, with the outbound and return shipping the time to complete the transaction can be around 2 weeks from start to finish. There is risk on both sides of the transaction for us and you. We are trying to make this a viable alternative to sourcing an expensive tool and custom cables with long wait times. We reserve the right to suspend the offer of service if it proves to be too difficult.
